Eulogies Pour In for the Reiners as Autopsy Reports Remain Under Wraps.
More than two weeks after the tragic deaths of celebrated filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community persist in remembering the pair.
Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Sharing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he just recently felt ready to express about his profound loss.
"Adequate time has elapsed that I can at last express my sorrow into words," posted Elwes, saying that his first meeting with Reiner made him fall in love. "Once we started passing more hours together I understood this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor shared behind-the-scenes footage from the movie, commenting that he doesn't recollect "a single day without laughter".
"The film is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Things that Rob valued immensely. This is one of the many reasons he was the best person to direct it," Elwes wrote.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, noting: "To say that they were a incredible duo would be an oversimplification. My heart still aches every time I recall you." He concluded with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Friend and Collaborator
In a separate essay, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the lead role.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked wonderfully with the cast, and he comprehended the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Withheld
In a new development, a Los Angeles judge decided to bar the disclosure of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, at the request from the local authorities.
A court order placed a restriction on the cases to limit the public release of "related notes, documents, files or images" associated with the active case.
The relevant authority had previously confirmed their deaths were the outcome of foul play, with a record noting the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
Fallout and Commentary
After the killings, public personalities shared divergent responses.
Ex-President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, making divisive remarks that were broadly criticized by several commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his criticism to the those speaking out recently. Talking on his program, Rogan described the remarks as "disappointing" and implied they revealed a worrisome deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan ended by suggesting that an associate should have intervened when the choice to weigh in on the tragedy was made.
