Slot Maintains He Is Secure and Has The Club's Support After PSV Loss

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it's understandable for questions to be raised about his future following a further heavy defeat versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their 9th defeat in twelve games, representing the club's poorest streak since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a punishing night at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I am OK, I've received a lot of support from above,” the coach remarked.

“It would be nice to turn it around and get a victory naturally but when you're working as a coach and not doing well then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my position. It is not the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Talks with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to expand on his discussions with the club's leadership, Slot revealed:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive for the squad and to me and those talks happen but they don't phone me all the time of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “Through standard exchanges I sense the trust. But I haven’t spoken to them after this game yet so we'll see.”

Recurring Failings and Squad Reaction

Slot highlighted known weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their Champions League loss, specifically wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more direct in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the solutions. Frankly, I do not. I’m saying that to all,” Jones stated.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't have to wait to consider it. I'm beyond getting mad inside. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the phrases.”

He added, “It's difficult because I play for the side I follow. I support them, and I’ve seen Liverpool all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team going through a spell like this with performances like these.”

Jones concluded, “However we continue to wear the emblem on our shirts. And as long as it is gone, we'll continue to battle.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad return to its rightful place, show everyone once more what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the best team in the world.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
