Soccer Analyst Chris Sutton Takes On Artist Murs in Premier League Predictions
Arsenal's 10-game victorious streak came to an end by Sunderland prior to the international break, but will the English top division leaders bounce back against local foes Tottenham this Sunday?
"{I believe like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a plan for this match," remarked soccer expert Chris Sutton.
"The Spurs manager will try to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling best this season - but Mikel Arteta's side typically still find a way to win."
The analyst is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League games this season, against AI, readers and a variety of guests.
For week 12, he faces performer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United supporter.
The singer's new record, Knees Up, is available on the weekend.
Soccer and Parenting Experiences
Murs is a talented soccer player as well as a accomplished singer and has been a featured player of several charity football matches over time - but he is not planning a serious comeback as a footballer.
"{I actually played in a benefit match the other evening for a friend of mine," he said. "The side was trailing 3-1 when I came off in the 60th minute, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you will!
"I continue to love football, but I hurt my joint a few years ago and it still isn't where I want it to be. I wish I could play more but the uncertainty of the game means it's too risky for me in my profession to do it properly again.
"Additionally I am 41 now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my child or son decides to play instead."
The singer and his spouse Amelia Tank have two children, their daughter and their son, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by taking on the role of their manager.
"I will not force football on our children but I've already told Amelia that if they happen to get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will probably be managing their weekend soccer team," he said.
"I observed my relatives play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I obviously was involved with a soccer team for a while too.
"My dad did it with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I get it from. He managed our side for two or three years and had a wonderful time with it. That might be the future for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"
Premier League Predictions
Saturday, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
The Blues might have to wait a bit longer for Cole Palmer's comeback from injury but their offense is now more potent with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap both returned to fitness.
I still think this fixture will be fairly close, however. The Clarets are disciplined and their sole at Turf Moor losses so far have been against the Reds and Arsenal.
This suggests a one-all draw to me, but I am actually going to choose Chelsea to win narrowly for what would be their third consecutive league win in a row.
The expert's prediction: 1-2
The singer's prediction: The Blues will be too strong. 1-3
AI's outlook: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Cherries have been defeated in their past two matches - although both of them were on the road - but they got thoroughly beaten by Villa last time out which shocked me.
On the other hand, West Ham secured two in a row before the international break and, although both of those fixtures were at their stadium, they do look competitive again.
The Hammers' sole away victory this season came at Nottingham Forest in August, when West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo was still Forest manager.
Therefore, what on earth do I predict here - can West Ham extending their run under their manager, or the home side bouncing back?
I will choose the Cherries, because I think what happened against Villa was a blip.
Sutton's prediction: 2-0
Olly's outlook: The home team are performing strongly but West Ham have improved under their boss. 2-2
The algorithm's prediction: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Bees were considered one of the frontrunners for relegation before the season started, but they have impressed a several observers under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three wins in their past four matches.
My son told me to get Brentford striker Thiago in my Fantasy Football squad a few weeks back and, guess what, I didn't listen.
The forward will probably find the net again on the weekend but I am nonetheless not going to select him or back Brentford at Amex Stadium.
They have not had great success on the road this season, and Brighton are always strong at their stadium. Brentford will attempt to hit them on the counter-attack but I feel the home manager's side pose much more of a threat.
Sutton's forecast: 2-1
The singer's prediction: It could be a match where you think there is going to be a many goals but it actually proves to be quite tight. 1-1
AI's outcome: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
It is a huge fixture for the Cottagers, who have suffered defeat in five of their last six games.
Fulham have have lots of talent in their squad but it nonetheless seems like they could be dragged into a drop zone battle.
As for the Black Cats, indeed they are the surprise package of the Premier League campaign so far.
The away side's performance in the 2-2 draw with the Gunners last time out was superb. We've not witnessed any other team rough up the North London side like that this season, and Sunderland were more than a match for them.
The logical choice would be to back the Black Cats here, because they are clearly capable of disrupting the hosts up too and, the last time they were in this part of London, they defeated the Blues at the close of October.
However I am not choose that. Rather, I truly need to carry on opposing the away team with my predictions. I am claiming a lot of credit for their good results because they clearly enjoy to prove me wrong.
Looking at the home side's at Craven Cottage record, the only side they have been defeated by is the league leaders. Marco Silva's side will be absolutely eager for a positive result, so I am going to say they will pick up three points.
Sutton's forecast: 1-0
Olly's prediction: I'm aware the visitors are performing strongly and additionally that Fulham are on a poor run... but they have nonetheless been decent at home this season. 2-0
AI's outlook: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
It is a tough one to predict. Liverpool have lost seven of their past 10 matches in every tournament, but could they be one of the sides who benefit from the {international break|
