The Hit Drama Announced for Seventh Season on BBC

A brand new six-part series created by the show's creator starts production in Belfast in the coming months, as confirmed by the network.
The actress shared her enthusiasm about the comeback, saying she was "so excited" about the show's renewal. Her co-star added, "What a joy it is to know that the Three Amigos will be reuniting together next year."
The last series concluded in recent years with a final episode that drew in more than 17 million viewers. Speculation about a new season have been circulating ever since, but official word only came recently.
New Challenges for The Team
Series seven will open with the anti-corruption unit having been disbanded and renamed as the Inspectorate of Police Standards, as revealed by the announcement.
Steve Arnott, Vicky McClure's role, and Adrian Dunbar's part remain tasked to tackle misconduct within the police force.
Their work "has never been more difficult", and in this climate, these officers will take on their "most sensitive case so far."
Fresh Face and Complex Case
A new character, Det Insp Dominic Gough, described as a charming officer known for takedowns of criminal networks, faces allegations of abusing his position to act as a offender.
Yet, this investigation could be a intentional diversion from a bigger threat still operating in the shadows, the teaser suggested.
Speaking about the renewal, Jed Mercurio said: "All cast and crew are deeply thankful to the dedicated viewers."
"We're privileged to have had countless followers watch the developments of the unit over six previous seasons and we couldn't be more delighted to be coming back for a seventh season."
Mercurio continued: "Corruption in this country is supposed to have ended while the series was not airing, so I've been compelled to use my creativity."

"Beyond the program's popularity but the people I've worked with I now call dear friends."

The drama premiered in the early 2010s and became a highly successful TV dramas of the past ten years, attracting guest stars such as Lennie James.
The BBC has not yet announced exactly the new season will premiere.

However, the corporation announced on this week that a seventh series is now in development.
