Top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka Secures Back-to-Back WTA Player of the Year Awards.
The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been selected the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second straight season.
The 27-year-old won four tournament victories – the most on tour – which included successfully defending the US Open in September against Amanda Anisimova to claim her fourth career Grand Slam singles title.
A Year of High Performance
Across the season, Sabalenka played in a tour-best nine finals, with defeats coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.
The Belarusian also claimed victory at the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open in May. She remained the entire year as the world number one, ending 2025 on top of the rankings for a second successive year.
In July, she became the first player to top 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams in 2015.
Historic Statistics
Sabalenka finished the competitive year with a 63-12 win-loss record, and collected a historic £11m in prize money.
She received nearly 80% of the votes submitted by global tennis journalists.
Later this month, she is scheduled to face 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match in a bid to "raise women's tennis to a new level".
