Vince Zampella, a Gaming Pioneer, Has Died in a California Vehicle Accident

Vince Zampella, who helped create the wildly popular video game Call of Duty, has tragically died in a traffic collision in California aged 55.

Zampella's death was verified by Electronic Arts, the parent company of Respawn Entertainment, a game studio which he helped establish.

The celebrated video game developer died after his car crashed and burst into flames on a highway in Los Angeles on Sunday morning, US media outlets report.

"This is a heartbreaking loss, and our deepest sympathies go to Vince's loved ones, his loved ones, and all those touched by his legacy," a representative from Electronic Arts stated.
